Give your time

An excellent way of helping is by organising fundraising events. Nicola Jellis is our Fundraising Co-ordinator on the Costa Blanca and you can contact her if you are interested in helping to organise the next event. She can be contacted by sending an e-mail to amasinternacional@hotmail.com and is always happy to receive new ideas for fundraising events and offers of assistance.

Alternatively you could organise your own fundraising activity to be able to make a donation to AMAS. For example a sponsored activity – walks, runs, bike rides, swims – anything you can think of! Perhaps the company you work for would like to make a donation. Perhaps you and your friends could organise a jumble sale to raise funds.

At the moment we are looking for ways to transport donated items of clothing, shoes, toys and books from Spain and England to Peru free of charge. Do you work for an airline who may be willing to assist or a courier company? Let us know.

Be a volunteer

AMAS welcomes volunteers who wish to assist in the work in the community of Pillao Matao y Picol Orcconpugio in the District of San Jerónimo, Cusco, Perú. Ideally we need volunteers who speak Spanish, at least a basic level, due to the fact that the children only speak Spanish and very little English.

Our only requirement for volunteers is that they help in the best way that they can and act responsibly with the children. We do request our volunteers to make a small donation to assist the children during their stay in Cusco.

Volunteers usually attend for between 1-3 months but we are open to accept volunteers for more or less time depending on what their personal situation allows them to do. Volunteers are required to attend the community centre daily between the hours of 3pm – 6pm Monday to Friday. We offer three options to anyone considering becoming a volunteer:

Option 1 - This is the most basic option. It allows the volunteer to organise their own accommodation arrangements and tourist activities if they so wish. This option includes placing the volunteer in the scheme and formulating a plan of their activities and work during their stay. Each volunteer receives a certificate at the end of their stay.

Option 2 - In this case we can organise accommodation for the volunteer during their stay in Cusco. As before, this option includes placing the volunteer in the scheme and formulating a plan of their activities and work during their stay. Each volunteer receives a certificate at the end of their stay.

Option 3 - This option is for people who, during the time they are able to work as a volunteer, also wish to visit the various tourist attractions in the area for example, Machupicchu (Camino Inca optional), Valle Sagrado (Pisaq, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo, Chincheros), City tour, Southern tour to include Pikillacta & Andahuaylillas, Maras, Moray, 1 day river rafting. This option also includes accommodation and of course the placement of the volunteer in the scheme and formulation of a plan of their activities and work during their stay. Each volunteer receives a certificate at the end of their stay.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please contact us at amasinternacional@hotmail.com or amascusco@yahoo.es
